About
My own wellness journey and love for helping others inspired me to learn more. I became certified in nutrition and weight loss coaching through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and offer one on one individual weight loss and nutrition coaching. I am currently working on my Personal Training certification with an emphasis on Stretching & Flexibility as well as Corrective Exercise.
My Story
How in the world did I end up here???? In 2016 I had bloodwork done and those results surprised me. It seemed as though almost all of the results were outside the normal range. Prior to getting those results my only issues were elevated blood pressure that I had just assumed was genetic and my weight which a I felt had consistently been up and down since I'd given birth to my 1st child way back in 1996. I had been following someone on Facebook who had seen a lot of success using online health and fitness groups and Beachbody programs on DVD. I decided to give it a try and started using these programs in early 2016. I started with T25 and then did a couple rounds of Shift Shop. I was with them when they started the wonderful streaming fitness platform of Beachbody OnDemand. I kind of got away from sticking with one particular program and continued to mix it up some starting and stopping numerous times and mixing it with visits to the gym. During the beginning of the Pandemic I started back with a consistent program and did 3 rounds of MBF with great success. In October 2020 I had a back injury that stopped my workouts and then in Jan of 2021 I lost my mom. The combination caused a spiral and I put on weight and quit working out.
Fast forward to now and I know what I can and can't do when it comes to my back. Life without my mom has become my new normal and Beachbody rebranded to BODI and became more of a well rounded health and fitness focused platform ( meditation, flexible nutrition options, and fitness). I decided to get back at it doing 4 Weeks For Every Body and then 1 Round of Sure Thing and since then a bit of mixing it up some with another round of Sure Thing being my main focus for my current fitness routine. I also wanted to learn more about how it all works together for my own personal development and knowledge base. Trust me I've had my own share of ups and downs over the years and tried all the fads HCG injections, Phenteramine, & Mounjaro/Ozempic (Semaglutides). All of these things worked for me as a fast fix but the only thing I found to truly keep the weight off was nutrition and exercise. That doesn't mean that these things won't work for you long term, this was just my experience and it sparked my need to learn more. I've always been interested in the science behind it all and decided it was time to learn more and got certified in nutrition and weight loss coaching through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I also found that they offer classes in flexibility and corrective exercise, after my own back injury, I decided that these additional courses would be beneficial not only to myself but possibly others as well. I plan to continue my education and complete those courses. The journey to better nutrition, health, and weightloss should be a positive one free from judgement and assumptions.
